BaseCamp: Children’s Ministry

Waypoint provides a safe and spiritually nurturing environment for kids under age 6 while their parents attend worship. Lessons and childcare are provided only during the 10:00 worship hour; we have no separate “Sunday School” program for children or adults.

Our primary goals are to:

  • Develop children’s love for Jesus
  • Intentionally expose them to scripture and the nature of God
  • Empower parents to enforce messages and teaching at home

BaseCamp meets in two classrooms located next to our worship space in the Art Gallery. Rooms are divided for 0-2 year-olds and 3-5 year-olds. Children in TK and Kindergarten are invited to attend BaseCamp at the parent’s discretion.chld

We will use First Look curriculum, primarily geared toward 2-5 year-olds, but even our youngest children will be exposed to biblical passages and God’s truth.

Elementary School

Elementary-aged children attend worship with their parents. We provide Worship bags with quiet and simple activities for children to use while they attend worship. Our service is casual and 45 minutes, which is friendly to families.

Youth (Grades 6-12)

Youth (grades 6-12) will also remain in the worship service with their parents. Opportunities exist for youth to assist in prayers, scripture reading, music, and other elements of worship. We also invite interested youth to consider helping us in BaseCamp.

We encourage parents to consider volunteering their time to BaseCamp or to find ways to plug into other aspects of the church. Volunteers are always needed and welcomed. The curriculum is very engaging and well-planned for ease of teaching. You don’t have to be a Bible expert to teach kids. In fact, many times the adults learn something new right along with the children. It’s a blessing to serve in BaseCamp. Contact us to get involved.

Although we exist to be a simple church, we take the protection and security of children extremely seriously. All volunteers are screened and trained in security protocols.

To give your authorization for us to complete a background check that is required before you may begin volunteering with our program, please email Katie Parker at kfparker@waypointcommunity.org.
